Nước mắm ăn kèm phải hơi kẹo nhưng không quá đặc. Để có chén nước chấm ngon nêm pha nước chanh cùng nước lọc và đường rồi nêm nước mắm vào từ từ cuối cùng là cho tỏi ớt vào.
Cho bún ra dĩa, chan nước mắm vào thế là hoàn thành.
